Japanese Teapot

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Ever searched for something you loved from your childhood? Ever attempted to replace an object that represents a special moment in time? They might not be the most expensive items on the market but everybody has a specific fave. The one that I owned was a gray Japanese teapot with cherry blossoms on the front. The serving pot came with 4 small cups that had the same design on them as the tea pot. My favorite part however was making either tea or hot chocolate and tipping it into our Japanese teapot. I loved pouring it into the small cups and drinking it while I ate my cinnamon toast.

Naturally we were oblivious to the art of serving and drinking tea. The movement of the arms and shoulders as the tea is poured. For me, the art of drinking tea essentially involves me pouring it in hopes that I just don’t spill it.

I watched show where a Geisha was demonstrating the correct way to serve tea. She seemed like she were gliding, just about dancing. The Geisha continue the practice and carry on the old customs such as the art of serving and drinking tea. It made me think of the Japanese teapot that my brothers and I shared. It made me think of the untroubled sense of those mornings watching cartoons and having our tea and toast.

I have searched on and off for some Japanese teapots, but they weren’t like the one from my youth. They were pretty and had all the extras the original one did. I haven’t searched online for the teapot yet. I have spent more of my time rambling thru thrift shops and stores like Pier One Imports. I believe finding an Eastern tea pot that I like now should be sufficient.

I am able to replace the teapot, but not the past. I believe I am going to buy a totally new Japanese teapot and have my sister and brother over for tea.

Monday, November 16th, 2009

The Harry Potter craze has taken off on a whole new crazy level. I am going to be first to admit that I never imagined a kid’s book about sorcerers and witches would be such a triumph. We have all seen the magician and sorcery thing done repeatedly during the past.I suspect it’s got to be those delightful characters that “Harry Potter” has to give. I do not care where you’re shopping, stop to take a close look around. What harry potter merchandise is on your to-buy list? Even if you are absolutely grown and do not care much for the harry potter goods, most likely is you have a little one who does.

As we looked around Toys R Us last weekend, my daughter indicated many things she wanted from the numerous harry potter merchandise. Naturally those revolting jelly beans had to be one of them. Have you seen these repulsive things? I mean come on; kids can’t wish to consume such foulness. The flavors are barf, earwax, slugs, and all kinds of other stomach-turning tastes. Who in the world comes up with this stuff? It’s utterly amazing what will make a buck now days.

So, are you one of many die-hard “Harry Potter” fans? Well, you’d better jump on that harry potter merchnadise even though it’s still around. The thing to do is to keep it in the first packing. Hey, you never can tell; this should be worth some dollars down the line a ways.

Some of it sells for a lot on EBay now. Find all of the harry potter product your tiny heart needs online now.
